Jo played on the track 'Man Made Paradise' on Freddie's solo album 'Mr Bad Guy' and now regularly plays his own gigs in London. Here is a collection of pictures and short write-ups concerning the gigs of his I've attended. The first one I went to was in September 07 - pictures here! You can check for further information on his website:

More Jo Burt

A whole year has past since I last made it - but on September 24 2008, I once again attended a Jo gig. He's still playing those great songs from his CD 'Seven Seeds', together with some new stuff. Really enjoyed the evening in a very relaxed atmosphere. This is the only photo that came out reasonably enough to post, featuring his two fantastic backing ladies! On the right is Antonia who keeps me on the mailing list - it was great to see her again! Keep up with Jo though his website http://www.joburt.co.uk

Jo Burt's Birthday Bash

I was at another Jo Burt gig at the Bulls Head in Barnes on 3 December 2008 to celebrate his birthday. It was a really special occasion; he performed with a former co-musician from the group 'Sector 27' with whom he played in the late 70s and early 80s - they performed a song they had not played together for more than 20 years! The spontaneity paid off! Jo was also joined on stage by superb singer Annie Winter - she was such a sensation with the song they did that an encore was forced! Furthermore, despite continuing claims that he didn't know what was going through his mind when he composed 'Money Changes Nothing' (scroll down for lyrics here), it's still a great song! Birthday wishes were read from Jacky Smith of the Queen Fan Club and Mike Moran, who was in Kuala Lumpur! See my pictures below, the two lower ones featuring Annie!:

New Year - New Jo Burt Gig!

On 9 January 2009 I had a great time once again and took even more pictures (see below).I was particularly struck by the touching song 'Fix Me' this time - lyrics here (scroll down to 5th song) and the lively 'Rock 'n' Roll Attitude'. Jo also performed the Doobie Brothers hit 'Long Train Running' (long time no hear!) and Annie Winter returned to perform the one song wonderfully again!

5 August 2009

Forever evolving - and now we can access information about a complete set list! I have become seriously crazy about that song Annie sang before. It's called 'Fools In The Snow'. Annie couldn't make it tonight, so Jo sang the vocal, with one of his band members playing mandolin. Wow! 'The Mess', being the last number - was super-great - continued stomping along for ages with instrumental developments - Jo wanting to emphasise he's a 'total mess' - or so he thinks! But the music worked wonderfully! Here, as ever, are some pictures:

Here are the lyrics of 'Fools in the Snow' from Jo's website:

Fools In The Snow

Follow like fools in the snow
Where the journey ends, we don't need to know
Chasing rainbows just for fun
Trying to find the end, when it's only just begun

Like the fools we thought we'd never be
These are times we thought we'd never see
Don't end the race before it's even run
Questioning the moon, find answers in the sun

Follow like fools in the snow
Tracing footsteps not knowing where they go
Nothing ventured, you will only find
The more you hold on to, the more you leave behind

Like the fools we thought we'd never be
These are times we thought we'd never see
Don't end the race before it's even run
Questioning the moon, find answers in the sun

Follow like fools in the snow
Where the journey ends, we don't need to know
Chasing rainbows just for fun
Trying to find the end, when it's only just begun

Like the fools we thought we'd never be
These are times we thought we'd never see
Don't end the race before it's even run
Questioning the moon, find answers in the sun

April 2010

A problem arose at this gig, which was finished in an impromptu but brilliant fashion by Adam Phillips and the rest of the band 'The Jo Burt Experience'! Here's a picture of Adam in action!

11 AUGUST 2010

Having been taken ill on the last show, this time it was an easy-going gig for Jo to get back into the swing, he played many a seasoned favourite from a selection of his own compositions, as well as some surprise cover offerings – one or two Beatles numbers among them! Welcome back, Jo! Here are my pictures:

Jo on the keyboards for 'King of Fools' with trusty support from Adam Phillips and Dzal Martin - a whizz on the electric guitar!

Jo with the intrepid duo Kathy and Antonia on backing vocals as usual!
